Oretha Gay McCloud, 82, of Greenup, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at King’s Daughters’ Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky surrounded by her family.


Gay was born December 24, 1942, in Greenup, Kentucky a daughter of the late George and Alberta Murphy Coffee.


Gay attended Wurtland High School until the 11th grade and graduated in 1960 from Wilmington High School. She was one of the oldest and longest member of the Wurtland Freewill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She worked at Sun Chemical as an Administrator Assistant for 15 years and also worked at the Greenup County Bank for 15 years as teller and bookkeeper. She loved her family dearly.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother William Coffee; three sisters, Bobbie Mays, Pat Johnson, and Janice Workman.


She is survived by her husband of 67 years Ralph David McCloud; a daughter Cheryl McCloud of Wurtland, Kentucky; extended family Melvin “Bo” McDaniels Jr. of Greenup, Kentucky; Melvin’s children Olivia McDaniels, MaKenna McDaniels, Taylor McDaniels. And Jayden McDaniels; a special friend Melinda Stewart of Wurtland, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.


Graveside rites will be conducted, at 1:00pm Friday at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Kentucky by Pastor Randy Smith.
