George Chapman McClure, 83, of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 16, 2026. He was born on August 17, 1942, to George Chapman McClure and Stella June McClure, who preceded him in death.

George was married to Gail Adkins McClure for 20 years. He was the father of six children and grandfather of 17 grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: Caroline Osborne and her husband, David, of Loveland, Ohio, and their children, David and Madeline; George “Jim” McClure and his wife, Jessica, of Maineville, Ohio, and their daughters, Lydia and Juliana; Mary Marshall of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and her sons, Samuel, Joshua, and David; Patricia Miller and her husband, Wade, of Pearisburg, Virginia, and their children, Owen, Aidan, Avalene, and Annaliese; Christina McClure of Chardon, Ohio, and her children, Owen, Taylor, and Nathan; and Douglas McClure and his wife, Stephanie, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and their children, Kathryn, Caleb, and Logan. He is also survived by his beloved siblings: Thomas McClure of Kitts Hill, Ohio; Alicia Graham of Proctorville, Ohio; Julia (Randy) Smith of Adelphi, Ohio; and Robert (Rita) McClure of Springfield, Ohio.

George was a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed helping his neighbors, often sharing eggs from his chickens and vegetables from his garden. Always ready to lend a hand, he also loved creating and making beautiful things.

George enjoyed gardening and studying the Bible, especially end-times prophecy and the blessed hope we have in Christ. Those who knew him will remember his enduring faith and the way he shared the sweetness of the love of his Savior, Jesus Christ, with everyone he met.

George will be laid to rest on his farm in Greenup, Kentucky, during a graveside service for immediate family, officiated by the Reverend Wade Miller. A memorial service will be held at his church, Little Sandy Baptist Church, on Saturday, September 5, and will be led by his pastor, Tim Wright. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to noon, with the service beginning at noon.
