In Loving Memory

Roger Lee Reed

Roger was a member of Greenup First Baptist Church. He was a 1980 graduate from Greenup County High School. He was a 1985 graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He started his career as a Funeral Director at former Riggs Funeral Home in Greenup, then after graduating from Mortuary School he went on to work at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, Kentucky before starting his own. He served on the Greenup County Public Library Board for several years and the Ashland Regional Airport Board for 7 years. He was a member of the Greenup Business Association, Greenup Lions Club, and the Eastern Kentucky Funeral Directors Association for 30 years. Roger has had his Private Pilot’s License and been a member of the Aircraft owners and Pilot Association for many years. He was a member of various former horse clubs and associations and has served as President of several. Roger coached many GCYSA soccer teams and several elementary & middle school basketball teams. Roger had a great love for Wyoming and Montana, where he had two of his favorite memories. In the summer of 2012, he rode his mule Eleanor through the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming and in the winter of 2009 he flew aerobatics in Butte, Montana.

In May of 1986, Roger & Bambi opened Reed Funeral Home, when Roger was at the age of 23. They married in September of 1986 and celebrated their 30th anniversary this year. Most importantly, he loved his family dearly and had a great love for the Lord. Roger experienced more in his 53 years than what most will in 90 years. Roger’s kids always told him to “Wake up and fight” and that is what he did to the very end. Roger’s wisdom and stories will forever be remembered. He will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
