Douglas Metzker, 76, of Wurtland, Kentucky went to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 18, 2025, at his residence in Wurtland. Douglas was born July 30, 1948, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Harry Gorden and Dorothy Louise Smith Metzker. He was a United States Navy Seabee Vietnam veteran. A 1966 graduate of the former Greenup High School and a member of Hoods Creek Regular Baptist Church. He had a lifelong passion for gardening, faithfully planting and tending to his garden every year. He also loved working on cars, rebuilding and selling them, and especially enjoyed attending drag races in Sandusky, Ohio.
He is survived by one son Keith Anthony Metzker of Lexington, Kentucky; one daughter Ginger (Brian) Frasure of Greenup, Kentucky; and one grandson Derek (Jess) Frasure of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Community Hospice and caregivers Johnda and Johnathan Ruggles and Debbie Wright.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Plum Grove -Collins Cemetery in Greenup, Kentucky by Pastor Leo Ison. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com.
