Betty Jean Walton Dixon

Betty Jean Walton Dixon, 84, of Greenup, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2025, at Woodland Oaks Health Care Facility in Ashland, KY surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on November 23, 1940, in Beckley, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Arthur and Bertha Lyons Walton. Betty was a 1958 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, West Virginia. She had been a member of Temple Baptist Church in Titusville, Florida and after moving to Kentucky she attended Coal Branch Community Church in Greenup. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all she came in contact with. Betty always made sure everyone who had touched her heart knew how loved they were.


In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband and love of her life, Beauford Denver Dixon; a daughter Debra Diana “Debbie” Dixon Lee; a great grandson Kaiden Denver Reil; son-in-law David Jackson, and brother Dallas Walton.


She is survived by her loving daughter Teresa and her husband John Smallwood of Greenup, Kentucky; seven grandchildren Melissa Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Tiffany Freeze Reil, Tony “TJ” Freeze, Jr., Seth Smallwood, Megan (Austin) Stringfellow, Miranda (Norvell) Collinsworth; Eleven great grandchildren, and all of her friends and staff who loved her dearly at Woodland Oaks.


Funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 pm, Monday, April 21, 2025, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Minister Kevin Witt. Betty will be entombed next to her husband Beauford, in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Titusville, Florida. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, at the funeral home.
