Randall Gene “Randy” Nelson

Randall Gene “Randy” Nelson, 72, of Greenup, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 15, 2026, at UK Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Randy was born January 28, 1954, in Greenup, Kentucky, a son of the late Walter and Louise Boyle Nelson.

Randy was a graduate of the former Greenup High School where he was a member of the basketball team and was retired from Pregis INC. in Wurtland, Kentucky. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, in Lloyd, Kentucky and G.O.T.E.M. tractor club for many years. Randy was a former member of the Greenup County Fair Board where he and his wife were involved in the livestock judging and very active with the 4-H program. He and his wife were avid Greenup County High School Baseball supporters and attended many games and also very active GCHS band parents.

Randy enjoyed old classic cars, attending and showing at many shows. Randy and his wife also greatly enjoyed traveling to Amish Country in Ohio in their convertible car, but their main enjoyment was being with each other and their family who they loved dearly. Randy will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am Friday, August 21, 2026, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Pastor Kenneth Martin III. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, Kentucky. Visitation will be Thursday, from 6:00-8:00 pm and one hour before the service Friday at the funeral home.
