Nathan Edward McDowell

Nathan Edward McDowell, 43, of Flatwoods, Kentucky passed away, Saturday, August 1, 2026, at UK Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving family from a long illness. Nathan was born March 28, 1983, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of Roger and Karen Hamilton Helms of Flatwoods, Kentucky. Nathan was a former member of the Wurtland Fire Department.

Nathan was preceded in death by his brother Travis “Benji” McDowell; maternal grandparents Ed and Christine Coffey Hamilton.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son Nathan Edward (Nova) McDowell II of Auburn, Kentucky; three daughters Natalie (Damon) Martin of Grayson, Kentucky, Dakotah (Brandon Stephens) McDowell of Flatwoods, Kentucky, and Caitriona McDowell of Auburn, Kentucky; a sister Summer (Josh) O’Neal of Load, Kentucky; two grandchildren Raylen McDowell and Willow McDowell; twin granddaughters on the way; a niece Shelby McDowell; two nephews Cade O’Neal and Zayden O’Neal; a host aunts, uncles and friends, who will miss him dearly.
