Wanda “Sis” Lucille Wedekind, 86, of Greenup, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family who she loved dearly.
Wanda Was born August 18, 1938, in Lloyd, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Morton and Lahoma Traylor Wireman.
Wanda was a 1957 graduate of the former McKell High School, retired in 1999 from the Florida Highway Patrol in Deland, Florida where she was a driver license examiner, and was very active in church activities while living in Port Orange, Florida. She enjoyed saltwater fishing and was a member of the Sailfish Cloggers performing at fairs along with other events and the World’s Fair in Knoxville, Tennessee. She loved camping and traveling throughout the United States. She also enjoyed taking care of her flowers, working in the garden and crafting. She truly loved and was so proud of her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers Hobert Wireman, Steven Wireman, and Chester Wireman.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years Ronald E. Wedekind; a son Randall Dale (Beth) Barney of Minford, Ohio; a daughter Kimberly Gail (Marvin) Tussey of Lloyd, Kentucky; a step son Chad (Trina) Wedekind of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister Valcie Collins of West Portsmouth, Ohio; her aunt Goldie Griffith of Portsmouth, Ohio; six grandchildren Nick (Stephanie) Barney of Raceland, Kentucky, Kala (Anthony) Slusher of Lucasville, Ohio, Brandi ( Sean) Carter of Lexington, Kentucky, Travis (Kaitleigh) Tussey of Grayson, Kentucky, Joshua (Nicolette) Barney of Washington D.C., Cole Wedekind of Platte City, Missouri, and Isabella Wedekind of Jacksonville, Florida; nine great-grandchildren Hailey Barney, Alyssa Barney, Ella Barney, Myles Carter, Emersyn Tussey Karsyn Slusher, Cruz Slusher, Violette Barney, and Beckett Barney; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Bro. Kenny Martin. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, Kentucky.
