Wanda "Deloris" Dowdy
Wanda "Deloris" Dowdy, 84, of South Shore, Kentucky, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Coal Grove, Ohio. Deloris was born July 11, 1939, in Greenup Co., Kentucky, a daughter of the late Austin and Nellie Mae Riffe Greene.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Dowdy; sons Paul Austin Dowdy and Phillip Dowdy; and two sisters, Loretta Clifton and Ella Mae Billups.
Deloris was a lifelong Christian and dedicated follower of Christ. She retired from Greenup County Schools where she worked for many years at McKell Elementary with Kindergarten children. If you knew Deloris, you knew the children in the school brought much joy to her heart and life. Deloris enjoyed creating memorial flowers for many families to honor their loved ones over the years. She also enjoyed hosting yard sales with her family and friends where she would greet everyone with the warmest smile. Deloris loved shopping, especially with her late sister Loretta and loved anything in the color of red. She loved spending time with her family and loved ones and was well known for her hospitality and the joy that she brought into each room she entered.
Deloris is survived by a brother, Raymond (Janie) Greene of Big Leatherwood, Kentucky and a host of many nieces, nephews, and friends who will greatly miss her.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Pastor Donnie McKenzie. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in South Shore, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until service time. Condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com.
