Shelby Tolliver

Shelby Tolliver, 85, of Greenup, Kentucky passed away surrounded by her loving family, after a long courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at her residence. She faced her illness with strength and grace, never complaining.  Shelby was born May 12, 1940, in Greenup, Kentucky, daughter of the late Robert Riley and Causetta Kilburn. She was a member of Little Jewell Old Regular Baptist Church. She loved the Lord, her family, gardening, and canning. She made sure her family was well supplied with the best corn and green beans. SHe loved to cook and bake. She made sure everyone who walked through her door had plenty to eat. 


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Henry Tolliver; four brothers Jack Riley, Earl Riley, Kenneth Riley, and Robert Riley Jr.; two sisters Geneva Ratliff and Linda Hupp.


She is survived by five sons Dennis (Pam) Tolliver of Greenup, Kentucky, David (Annie) Tolliver of Greenup, Kentucky, Henry (Becky) Tolliver of Waddy, Kentucky, Steve (Becky) Tolliver of Greenup, Kentucky, and Melvin Tolliver of Greenup, Kentucky; two daughters Sharri (Ed) Robinson of Greenup, Kentucky and Melissa (Jerry) Brown of Greenup, Kentucky; fifteen grandchildren Brian HAnners, Billy Hanners, Tony Burke, Michael Rigney, Steven Tolliver, Jeffrey Tolliver, Brian Tolliver, Matt Tolliver, Katie Tolliver Fischer, Melvin Tolliver, Dillion Tolliver, MIranda RObinson Davis, HEather Robinson Liles, Amber Brown Wireman, and Jerrad Brown; and numerous great – grandchildren.


Shelby leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, devotion, and unconditional love. Though her family’s hearts are heavy, they find comfort knowing she is at peace, resting in the arms of her Savior.


In addition to her loving family, she cherished her dear friends Mary Tolliver, Sylvia Hall and Rita Bryant, whose friendship brought her joy and companionship throughout the years.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Elder Keith Tipton and Elder Jr. Ruggles. Burial will be in Tolliver Cemetery in Greenup, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday.
