Ronald Ray Trippett Sr., 89, of Greenup, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Community Hospice Care Center Ashland, Kentucky surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born December 23, 1935, in Glenwood, West Virginia, a son of the late Eugene and Lillie Spurlock Trippett.
Ray was a graduate of Milton High School in Milton, West Virginia and a graduate of Morehead State University with an associate in applied science / high school vocational education. He attended Greenup Church of God where he served as Sunday school superintendent for many years and later attended Chinns Branch Baptist Church in Wurtland, Kentucky. He was former custodian and teacher at Beechwood Elementary and Yearly Road High School in Columbus, Ohio for several years. After moving to Kentucky Ray established his self as owner and operator of Trippett’s Standard Oil Station in Greenup for several years and then became the High School Vocational / ASC certified Auto Mechanic, teacher at Greenup County High for 27 years. Ray was a Kentucky Colonel and loved to restore antique cars and frequent the antique stores. Ray will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ellen Trippett; five brothers’ Infant boy Trippett, Elza Trippett, Robert Trippett, Carl Trippett, and Jack Trippett; three sisters Elsie Packston, Opal McComas, and Patricia Woodard.
He is survived by a son Ronald Ray (Cheryl) Trippett Jr. of Lloyd, Kentucky; a daughter Rebecca (Anthony) Cornett of Greenup, Kentucky; a brother Roger Trippett of Glenwood, West Virginia; a sister Doris Thompson of Scott Town, Ohio; four grandchildren Stephanie (Michael) Roe of Greenup, Kentucky, Daniel (Jennfier) Trippett of Flatwoods, Kentucky, Bryanna Roar of Greenup, Kentucky, and Austin Cornett of Morehead, Kentucky; six great grandchildren Jacob (Ashley) Roe, Lauren Roe, Brynlee Trippett, Conner Trippett, Avery Roe, and Memphis Roe; a great-great granddaughter Navy Roe; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by his grandson Daniel Trippett. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery, Lloyd, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday and one before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
