Paul Horsley



Paul Horsley, 95, of Argillite, Kentucky passed away Monday, August 23, 2021, in Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, Kentucky. Mr. Horsley was born March 30, 1926, in Oldtown, Kentucky a son of the late Urcel and Virgie Nichols Horsley. He was retired from CSX Railroad and was a United States Army World War II veteran. At nine years old, Paul was plowing fields and hillsides behind a Belgian draft horse on the family farm at Longbranch Road in Greenup. He also tilled land that presently lies beneath Greenup Lake State Parks pool. At a young age, Paul had already substantiated himself to be an excellent horseman. While working for Greenup County/State as a grader operator, Paul graded roads throughout Greenup County prior to any paved roads.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nannie Bentley Horsley; four brothers Hertzel Horsley, Earl Horsley, Phillip Horsley, and Junior Horsley; and three sisters Wanda Nelson, Bonnie Callihan, and Imogene Seybert.

Eight great grandchildren;

one great great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews


Graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday August 27, 2021, by Bro. James at Horsley–Nichols Cemetery in Argillite, Kentucky. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers and gifts the family kindly requests donations be made to the Greenup County War Memorial, 2900 Catherine Street, Flatwoods, Kentucky 41139.
