Martha “Jeanne” Blair Stewart, 80, of Worthington, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her family. Jeanne was born April 13, 1945, in Cloverport, Kentucky, a daughter of the late William McKinley Blair and Bessie Sanders Blair. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Phillip Roger “Horse” Stewart; and siblings Freddie Blair, Ed Blair, Alvin Blair, and Shirley Blair Coomes.
She is survived by one son William “Bill” (Lisa) Glenn Stewart of Summerfield, Florida; one daughter Jennifer Jean Stewart of Worthington, Kentucky; brothers Earl “Buckshot” (Minnie) Blair and Charles William “Butch” (Ogee) Blair; grandchildren Lila Marie Stewart and Ella Blair Stewart both of Summerfield, Florida; special friends Ramona McComas and Betty Whitt; caregivers Cindy Lacks and Brittany Mills; and a host of family and friends.
Jeanne was a 1963 graduate of Fredrick Fraize High School in Breckenridge County. In that same year she was crowned Miss Meade County Rural Electric. She worked in the family restaurant throughout her high school days. She was a former Title 1 aide for Worthington Elementary School, where she was also active in PTA, Fall Festivals, Haunted Houses, and more. Jeanne had a talent for catering where she volunteered lost of hours as house manager to the Paramount Arts Center during the Troubadour Concert Series.
Cloverport, Kentucky shaped her life in so many ways, the small Ohio river town is where she met Roger, who was working as a science teacher in Cloverport. They met on the school steps as she was delivering a fish tank to him and as they say, “the rest is history”. They were married on March 27, 1965, in Cloverport. Once married they returned to Roger’s hometown of Worthington, Kentucky, another small town also on the banks of the Ohio River where they established their home and family. She battled leukemia from January 2006-Decemeber 2008. Throughout her life she had several dogs that she cherished including Peppy Fuzzy, Duke, Oscar, and Sassy.
Jeanne enjoyed fishing, summer cookouts with her family and friends, and taking Sunday drives. She loved music, especially Marty Stewart, Garth Brooks, and Ronnie McDowell. She listened to all kinds of music from oldies to country. Jeanne would dress up in Costume in Cloverport for the Sacajawea Festival, Russell Railroad Days, and Halloween. Any occasion to put on a costume she was ready – even dressing up the neighborhood kids.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Bro. Delmar Hewlett. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Garden in Flatwoods, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday and one hour before the service on Thursday.
