LD Hester

LD Hester, 89, of Wurtland, Kentucky went to his Heavenly home to be forever with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 17, 2026.

LD was born in Armorel, Arkansas on April 17, 1937, to the late Luther Daniel Hester and Mollie John McCright Hester. LD is also preceded in death by three brothers, Ordie Daniel Hester, Donald Hester and John Henry Hester, and two sisters, Louise Province and Frances Swizer.

After 30 years, LD retired as a manager for General Motors in Chicago, Illinois. He was a devout Christian and was a member of Calvary Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Wurtland, Kentucky.

Left to honor his memory is his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Jean Smith Hester, his three sons, Jeffrey Hester of Batesville, Mississippi, Gary Scott Hester of Batesville, Mississippi, Larry Dean Hester of Batesville, Mississippi, one adopted granddaughter, Heather Michelle Meyers of Kentucky and two stepdaughters, Trudy (Pete) Roar of Kentucky, Etty (Jim) Watte of Indiana. He also leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

LD was blessed with very special friends and caregivers, Mike and Angelee Bressler, whose care, kindness, and companionship meant so much to him.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 pm Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Pastor Jonathan Morrison. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service on Wednesday. A private graveside service will be held for immediate family only at Roar Cemetery in Greenup, Kentucky.
