Lawrence Keith Bays

Lawrence Keith Bays, 71, of Lloyd, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. Lawrence was born February 9, 1954, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the Earl and Nannie Lee Howard Bays.

Lawrence was a 1972 graduate of the former McKell High School in South Shore, Kentucky. He was a retired Locks and Dam operator with the Corps of Engineers and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lloyd, Kentucky. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing music on his guitar. He loved Sunday dinners with his family and watching the birds in his yard.  He was also an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats, Cincinnati Reds and Bengals fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Georgia Kay Worthington Bays and a son Lawrence Keith Bays Jr.

He is survived by a son Greg (Monica) Bays of Lloyd, Kentucky; a daughter Stephanie (Jared) Mayo of Greenup, Kentucky; three sisters  Jackie (Joe) Miles of Russell, Kentucky, Debbie Craft and Gail (Roger) Owens both of Lloyd, Kentucky; eight grandchildren Antonio Bays, Diego Bays, Avia Bays, Jair Jackson, Maddie Mayo, Liam Mayo, Max Mayo, and Tyler Bays; a special great-granddaughter who he raised Arissa Shumate; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and family who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Monday, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Bro. Kenny Martin.  Burial will be in the Howard Cemetery in Lloyd, Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Sunday and one hour before the service on Monday at the funeral home. Condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com
