Kathryn Mae Short

Kathryn Mae Short, 76, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Kathryn was born July 17, 1947, in Ashland, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ottis Franz and Mary Miller Franz Weaks.

She was a 1965 graduate of Russell High School, a member of Russell First Baptist Church, and was a retired nurse’s aide from Best Care Nursing Home in Wheelersburg, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Michael Franz.

She is survived by three sons Marcus (Stephanie) Bowen of Ashland, Kentucky, Joe Bowen of Flatwoods, Kentucky, and John (Amanda) Short of Ashland, Kentucky; three grandchildren Dakota (Carrie) Jenkins, Annamarie (Taylor Danner) Leader, and Abigail (Nathaniel Wolf) Bowen; two great grandchildren Hudson Danner and Harrison Danner.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Monday, August 28, 2023, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Dr. Tom Melvin. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Kentucky.
