Bert Hamilton

Bert Hamilton, 67, of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away, Monday, March 4, 2024, at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky after a long fight with cancer.

Bert was born July 31, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late Watt Isaac Hamilton and Josephine Potter Barney. He was a former Ironworker for local 769 and owner and operator of BG’s hair design with his wife Gloria in Greenup, Kentucky. He loved to play music and played in a band. He bartended some throughout his young life and helped his mother plan parties at the country club. Bert enjoyed making and working on guns. Bert always stayed strong throughout his battle with cancer.  He was always worried more about the others fighting cancer than he did himself.  He always said that they probably had it worse. Bert was a very kind and loving friend and husband. He lived a full life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Gloria Criswell Hamilton; one son Kris (Leah) Hamilton of Miriam, Virginia; one daughter Elizabeth (Sean) Carroll of Durham, North Carolina; one brother Joe Hamilton; one sister Dottie Schoder; one sister-in-law Diane Johnson of Huntington, West Virginia; two brothers in laws Larry (Geanie) Criswell  of Boyd County, Kentucky and Gary Criswell of Duncan, Oklahoma; and eight grandchildren; three special friends Keith Garvin of Flatwoods, Kentucky, Homer Delawder of Flatwoods, Kentucky, and Harley Rayburn of olive Hill, Kentucky.

Funeral service will be conductedat 1:00 pm on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Bro. Larry Garvin. Burial will be in East Memory Gardens in Grayson, Kentucky.
