Ben Woods

Ben Woods, 71, of Greenup, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 27, 2022, at King’s Daughters’ Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.

Ben was born August 28, 1950, in Wurtland, Kentucky a son of the late Chester and Katherine Moore Woods.

He was a retired Blackbox operator from AK Steel. Ben loved the Lord and was a member of the Wurtland Church of God. He was an avid golfer and University of Kentucky fan. Ben loved his grandchildren, family and friends dearly. He will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Derek Woods; a daughter Monica Woods; two brothers Jerl Woods and Carl Woods.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Janet Beasley Woods; a daughter Deanne (Shawn) Markel of Flatwoods; a step son Kenny (Sasha) Riley of Ironton, Ohio; a step daughter Ashley Riley of Ironton, Ohio two brothers Steve (Linda) Woods of Raceland, Kentucky and Terry (Sherri) Woods of Paintsville, Kentucky; three sisters Dinah (Randy) Brown of Grand Lake Colorado, Doretha Holbert of Daulphin Island, Alabama and Ailene (James) Miller of Mobile, Alabama; six grandchildren Luke Markel, Sam Markel, McKenna Woods, Levi Riley, Kalen Riley and Eden Riley; a special uncle Claude Moore and a special friend Mike Sexton; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Bro. Pete Roar. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
