Belinda Ballard, 68, of Russell, Kentucky passed away Friday evening, October 8, 2021, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky, following a long illness. Belinda was born September 27, 1953, in Ashland, Kentucky, the oldest daughter of Phyllis Craft Thornbury and the late Robert Thornbury. Belinda was a former nursing assistant and activities director at Wurtland Nursing Home, clerk at Whitman’s Hallmark, and receptionist at Tammy Jo’s Studio.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a nephew, Sam Vanhorn.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Mark Ballard Sr.; one son Markie (Tammy) Ballard of Greenup, Kentucky; three grandchildren Tyler (Allie) Ballard of South Portsmouth, Kentucky, Ashlee (Van) Daugherty of Morgantown, Kentucky, and Shelby Ballard of Greenup, Kentucky; one great grandson due to arrive in February, Griffin Ray Ballard; three sisters Hope (Jack) Tackett of Flatwoods, Kentucky, Cindy (Allen) Boothe of Waterloo, Ohio, and Stephanie (Steve) Vanhorn of Louisville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends, all of whom loved her very much.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Bro. Mike Dennis and Tim Underwood. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Monday. Masks are strongly recommended.
