Vernon Paul Jarrell

Vernon Paul Jarrell, 72, of Greenup, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.

Vernon was born February 6, 1947 in Greenup, Kentucky a son of the late George Elman and Freda Margaret McGarey Jarrell.

Vernon was retired from General Motors Company in Pontiac, Michigan and was a United States Vietnam Army Veteran. He was a member of the Greenup VFW Post #1168. He loved to drag race and work on cars. Vernon loved to joke around with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Oreda Faye Taylor Jarrell; two brothers Elman George “Jr” Jarrell and Ray Jarrell; two sisters Charlene Madden and Juanita Davis.

He is survived by two sons Jerry Dean Jarrell of Southfield, Michigan and Michael Paul Jarrell of Waterford, Michigan; two brothers Lawrence (Bonnie) Jarrell of Marysville, Ohio and Ronald (Liza) Jarrell of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters Mary Dean (Abe) Howard of Columbus, Ohio, Sharon Howard of Greenup, Kentucky and Linda Milano of Allenstown, Pennsylvania; one very special grandson Jordan Michael Jarrell; several nieces and nephews. Vernon also had very special neighbors and friends that he loved and who will miss him greatly.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Monday, January 13, 2020 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Minister Tracy Howard. Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East. Military rites will be performed by Marine Corps League Greenbo detachment 1345.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Sunday and one hour before the service on Monday at the funeral home.
