Helen Louise Quillen Reed


Helen Louise Quillen Reed, 79, of Lloyd, Kentucky formerly of York, Kentucky went to be with the Lord, April 6, 2018 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

Helen was born January 5, 1939 in York, Kentucky a daughter of the late David Crockett and Mettie Alice Miller Quillen. Helen was well known for her ability to sew anything. She loved making quilts and outfits for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many of her quilts won awards at local events. She was anticipating her two new great grandchildren that are on the way. Helen was of the Christian faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Milton Reed; one son Roger Lee Reed; five brothers Harley Quillen, Elby Quillen, Bill Quillen, Wesley Quillen, and Herston Quillen; Four sisters Argetta Alexander, Margaret DeHart, Lorine Quillen Barker, and Flora Borowski.

She is survived by

Claude (Leigh Ann) Reed of Lloyd, Kentucky

Tom (Joetta) Reed of Lloyd, Kentucky

Allen (Sheila) Reed of Russell, Kentucky

Melissa (Jimmy) Newsome of Maloneton, Kentucky

Joe (Juanita) Quillen of Lloyd, Kentucky

one daughter in law

Bambi Lynn Reed of Greenup, Kentucky

twelve grandchildren Ross Reed, Ashley Reed, Allison Gilliam, Cayleigh Reed, Reagan Reed, Chandler Reed, Crockett Reed, Cassie Jo Reed, Wade Reed, Taylor Reed, Tessa Hunt, Austin Newsome

five great-grandchildren Tristen Johnson, Mylei Johnson, Ellie Hunt, Easton Hunt, Kennedy Reed

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Bro. Wayne Stephenson. Burial will be in D.C. Quillen Cemetery in York, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 9:00 on Monday at the funeral home and one hour before the service on Tuesday. Condolences may be made at rlrfuneralhome.com.
