Robert "Joe" Anthony Hill

Robert “Joe” Anthony Hill, of Greenup, Kentucky, formerly of Huntington, West Virginia went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the age of 63 years old. Joe was born on July 13th, 1958, to the late Geraldine Clark in Huntington, WV. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by brother Elder Thomas T. Hill; sister in-law Marcella Black; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Joe attended Huntington High School and later worked for Columbia Gas, and Cabell County Community Service where he was a delivery driver for meals on wheels and later became a cook. He also worked as a cook for the Huntington City Mission.

In his spare time, you could always find Joe watching or attending sporting events and rooting on both his Louisville Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys. In his younger years, Christmas season was very special to Joe as he loved playing Santa Claus and bringing joy to all the children that he would interact with during the holidays. Also, for those that knew Joe well, you quickly understood that music was his passion. From spinning music at the DJ booth, to singing and playing bass for various bands such as US and Company, Parliament’s, Prime Example and Proven to name a few; he was a true entertainer and the life of the party!

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Doreatha “Dee” Hill; his son Jay (Elaine) Johnson of Charlotte NC; sisters, Gerri Allred and Ann Hill of Huntington WV; also Vivian (Linda) Garrett who was raised like a sister; brother William Nellons of Huntington WV; mother-in-law Lillian Black of Greenup; sister in-laws Ellen Fish of Greenup, Gwen Thomas of South Point OH and Anita Hill of Huntington WV; brother in-laws David (Kathy) Black of Greenup and Kevin Black of Ashland; two grandchildren Austin Johnson of Charlotte NC and Paige Johnson of Raleigh NC; and a host of aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joe loved his family dearly and would want you to know that he was very proud of each of you and don’t let anyone steal your shine.
