Mary Lou Barker

Mary Lou Barker, 96, of Oldtown, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, Kentucky. Mary was born April 26, 1930, in Greenup County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Jesse and Nella Moore Brown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard G. Barker; three sons Ronald D. Barker, Donald R. Barker, and Larry R. Barker; a son-in-law Delmar Reffett; two brothers Charles Tracy Brown and Graydon Brown; one sister Lois Clark.    

Mary attended Load Christian Baptist Church.  She had great faith in the Lord and enjoyed reading her Bible daily. She was a devoted housewife, mother and friend. Mary always took great care of her family, who she loved dearly. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by three sons Darrell (Cathy Gayle) Barker of Flatwoods, Kentucky, Gregory (Sherry) Barker of Oldtown, Kentucky, and Jeffery Barker of Owensboro, Kentucky; a daughter Pamela D. Reffett; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say thank you to Oakmont Manor staff and the workers with hospice for the wonderful care they gave their mother.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Bro. Danny Brown. Burial will be in the Warnock Cemetery in Warnock, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 11:00am until service time at the funeral home.
