John Wesley Lyons, 68, of South Shore, Kentucky, passed away Friday, May 9, 2025, in Destin, Florida while on vacation. John was born on December 29, 1956, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late John Walter and Lenore Haynes Lyons.

John was a carman for CSX Railroad and was a 1974 graduate of Greenup County High School. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, hiking, and exploring trails on his side-by-side. He cherished time spent with special friends. He was a man of many talents. John used his chainsaw to carve out incredible works of art that are now scattered throughout the community, each piece a lasting reminder of him. He had a love for music and often learned new songs on his guitar just to surprise those around him. He also had a passion for raising colts. He was a hardworking man and avid hunter but above all, a devoted family man. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

John is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Nesba Crisp Lyons; two daughters Tina (Tim) Ashley of Lucasville, Ohio and Sarah (Brandon) Prichard of Ironton, Ohio; one granddaughter Andrea Ashley; and one great grandson Anthony Ashley.

Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 pm on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky. Condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com

His alertness improved, his movements became steadier, and he regained a surprising amount of energy and clarity.Incredibly, he also regained much of his independence and confidence. It’s been a life-changing experience he feels more like himself again, better than…
