Betty Worthington Madden McLaughlin

Betty Worthington Madden McLaughlin, age 85, formerly of Greenup, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Charter Senior Living in Hermitage, TN, surrounded by her family. She was born January 13, 1935 in Greenup County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Hubert and Sadie Worthington. She attended Greenup First Baptist Church. She taught school for many years in Greenup County and later worked in the Payroll Department at Ashland Marathon. She also took great pride in being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker and loved cooking for and entertaining her family and friends. Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert McLaughlin; her grandparents who raised her after the death of her mother, Charles and Nola Worthington; her step-mother Viola Worthington; brothers Curt, Robert, Glen and Bud; sisters Midge Claxon, Mae Abdon, Minnie Robertson, and Carolyn Wolfe.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Theresa Jane Madden Hostetler (Ron) of Hermitage, TN; step-daughters, Loretta Kilcourse of Danbury, CT and Patty Garrison of Kenova, WV; step-son, Jim McLaughlin of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Erica Manly (John), Jonathan Hostetler (Michaela), Rachel Mandola, Bridget VanderVeen, and Ryan Kilcourse; a great-grandchild Savannah Rae Manly; beloved sister-in-law, Lois Worthington; and sisters, Katy Ann Trout, Rosemary Evans, Georgia Kay Bays, Sandy Floyd, Chloteen Mowery, Darlene Hobson, and Donna Sue Cooper, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Due to the COVID-19 virus there will be a private family service conducted by Dr. Tom Melvin at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup. Burial will be in the Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd.
