Ronald Martin Hoover


Ronald Martin Hoover, 78, Wabash, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, NC. Ron was born April 12, 1941 in Lawrence, Kansas a son of the late Calvin and Betty Hammond Hoover. Ron was a farm boy to Union man. He farmed for many years and later began working at Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka, Kansas. A few years later he then began working as a maintenance man at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Topeka, Kansas. He was a proud member of United Rubber Workers Local 307 and later United Steel Workers Local 307. He held various positions within the local union including maintenance chairman, president and then became a URW International Representative. When the URW Rubber workers merged with USW he became a International Representative and a Goodyear Representative. He also became USW vice president of the rubber division. He was also a former trustee of the VEBA and a board member of ICD. Ron also handled the journey man card program for the USW.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in by one daughter Kerry Hoover.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Linda LeMaster Hoover

one son Shaun Hoover of Topeka, Kansas

two daughters Marcella (John) Ensley of Hoyt, Kansas Rouie (Ford) Hawkins of Wabash, IN

one brother Martin (Pat) Hoover of Lawrence, Kansas

two sisters Linda Steele of Kearney, Nebraska

Carol (Roger) Redenbaugh of Sedona, Arizona

five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren several nieces, nephews, cousins and family members
