William Rufus Adkins, 82, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Bath Creek Estates in Cuyahoga, Ohio. Rufus was born, January 19, 1944, in Warnock, Kentucky, a son of the late Mitchell and Gladys Huffman Adkins. Rufus was a 1962 graduate of the former Wurtland High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Rose Marie Neace Adkins; a brother John R, Adkins; two sisters Opal Reffett and Grace Bush.
He survived by a daughter Angie (John) Beck of Akron, Ohio; two sons William Adkins and Jonathan (Stephanie) Adkins of Moline, Illinois; one grandchild.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00am, Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Minister John Lybrook. Visitation will be from 10:00am until service time on Saturday. Condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com
