William “Bill” Ora Sparks

William “Bill” Ora Sparks, 59, of Corning, Iowa, passed away, Friday, May 3, 2024, in Hospice Care of the Valley in Youngstown, Ohio surrounded by his loving family, after suffering a major stroke earlier that week. Bill was born November 29, 1964, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a son of the late Billy Gene and Katherine Graham Sparks.

Bill had a love for the open road, driving his truck “Baby Pearl” and was the owner of Wild Rose Trucking of Corning Iowa. Bill’s trucking journey began around 37 years ago in Youngstown, Ohio, where he purchased his first truck “Rosie”. This began his lifelong career in truck driving which sadly ended in the same town. Wild Bill, and Ghost Dawg were his trucking names that everyone knew him by.  Most people knew him as Bill or Billy, very few people knew him as William.  He had the biggest heart, always giving to others and helping those who needed him even if it meant working harder.  He was plain spoken, true to himself and not phony, you either liked him or you didn’t either way he didn’t care, never changing for anyone and never regretting anything. He will be sadly missed by all who accepted him for who he was.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life Denise Quimby Sparks 34 days prior to his own passing due to a heart attack; and two brothers Richard Sparks and Stephen Sparks.

He is survived by four daughters, Priscilla (Ray) Harris of Portsmouth, Ohio, Katherine (Justin) Gooslin of Belfry, Kentucky, Joannah (Tyler) Storey of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Nakeysha (Trey) Whipple of Lenox, Iowa; one son William Charles Sparks of Portsmouth, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren; two brothers Edward (Pam) Sparks of Greenup, Kentucky and Delmer (Tammy) Sparks of Summerville, Ohio; two sisters Nancy (Tim) Poplin of Greenup, Kentucky and Tereasa (Scott) Fore of South Shore, Kentucky; and one trucking brother Sam (Karie) Martin of Minooka, Illinois.

A private memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Sparks Cemetery in Greenup, Kentucky. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky has been entrusted with the arrangements.
