Vicky Cales Adkins

Vicky Cales Adkins, 69, of Lloyd, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 18, 2026, at UK Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Vicky was born November 8, 1956, in Montgomery County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Norman and Kathleen Moore Cales.

In addition to her parents she was preceded, in death by her husband Grover Adkins; two brothers Eddie Cales and Ralph Gary Cales; three sisters Kaye Billups, Beverly Cales, and Toni Cales-Clay; a sister-in-law Connie Martin.

Vicky was a 1974 graduate of Greenup County High School. She was a founding Board Member for the Lloyd Volunteer Fire Department, retiring from the board in February of 2025. She was the owner of the former Adkins Market in Lloyd, Kentucky for over 20 years.  Vicky also attended First Baptist Church of Lloyd for many years where she enjoyed working in the kitchen during vacation Bible school. She always looked forward to Monday evening Bible Study and the special outings with the ladies.

She is survived by two daughters Melinda (Ron Horn) White and Terra Adkins, both of Lloyd, Kentucky; three grandchildren Cameron White, MeKynna White, and Paige White; a sister-in-law Trina (Earl) Kirk; a brother-in-law Pete Martin; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conductedat 1:00pm, Friday, April 24, 2026, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Pastor Rusty Foster.  Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00-8:00pm and one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.
