Sarepta Lorilla “Lori” Grizzle

Sarepta Lorilla “Lori” Grizzle,66, of Greenup, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 10, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. Lori was born December 5, 1956, in Ashland Kentucky a daughter of the late Earnest and Betty Withrow Potts.

Lori was a 1974 graduate of Fairview High School and a United States National Guard Veteran. Lori was commander of Greenup AmVets Post 95 for 20 years, was the first female state commander for 10 years, and the first female to be awarded the Humanitarian Silver Helmet. Lori held many different positions throughout her life, she was a judge advocate and was involved in many community events through the AmVets.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Grizzle.

She is survived by a brother Earnest Potts of Ashland, Kentucky; two sisters Ruth (Roy) Blake of Willowwood, Ohio and Ernestine Withrow of Ashland, Kentucky; niece Melinda and Nephews David and Charlie; great-niece and great nephew Rryan and Jade; a great-great niece Ophelia; special friend Gaylord Potter of Flatwoods, Kentucky and a sister/friend Pattie Kitts of Louisville, Kentucky; and many friends who will dearly miss her.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East, Thursday, September 14, 2023 by Ministers Tom Goble and Greg Heun. Military rites will be performed by the American Legion, Post 93, Kenova, West Virginia.
