Patty Lou Clay

Patty Lou Clay, 86, of South Portsmouth, Kentucky passed away, Monday, December 12, 2022, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. Patty was born November 24, 1936, in Trenton, Michigan, a daughter of the late Clinon and Edith Traylor Jones.

Patty was a 1955 graduate of the former McKell High School. Patty had been the owner of Kay’s Jewelry in Portsmouth, Ohio for many years. Patty started working there as Christmas help her senior year of high school and was later accepted as a full-time employee when she graduated high school. Being a faithful and dedicated worker paid off as she eventually was offered ownership of the business.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Carpenter, her first husband, Elmer E. Carpenter and second husband, William E. Clay.

She is survived by her brother Gerald “Brother” Jones and his wife Linda of Ocala, Florida; two nephews, Gerald Jones Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Sevierville, Tennessee and David Scott Jones of Las Vegas, Nevada. Both Jones and Clay families dearly loved and supported her after each husbands passing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M, Friday, December 16, 2022, by Bro. Raymond Lewis. Burial will be in the Brick Union Cemetery, Lloyd, Kentucky.
