Ortan “Ernie” Via

Ortan “Ernie” Via, 78, of Greenup, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. Ernie was born June 29, 1944, in Hinton, West Virginia, a son of the late Ernest and Irene Adkins Via. Ernie was a 1962 graduate of Hinton High School and was a former carman for CSX Railroad in Raceland, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Diana Lou Belford Via and a grandson Devin Via. He is survived by two sons Baxter (Donna) Via of Warnock, Kentucky and Dexter (Bridgette) Via of Load, Kentucky; a daughter Vivian (Jerry) Gray of Warnock; four sisters Jean (Johnny Vest) Titta of Hinton, West Virginia, Shirley (Lloyd) Belford of Greenup, Kentucky, Drema Clair of Greenup, Kentucky and Juanita Bennett of Hinton, West Virginia; eight grandchildren Leigha Gray, Emily Gray, Nathan Gray, Darcey Via, Craig Campbell, Tyler Campbell, Brandon Gray and Ryan Gray; six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Bro. Danny Brown and Bro. Ricardo Hernandez. Burial will be in the Belford Cemetery in Greenup, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 11:00 until service time at the funeral Home on Saturday. Condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com.
