Nina Lyon
Nina Lee Lyon, 82 of Greenup, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was born on January 22, 1941, ni Harrisonville, Missouri, and raised in Tucson, Arizona. An only child of the late Walter and Nina Newman Hanna. She was a graduate of Pueblo High School, Lamson Business College, and a retired Cosmetologist. She was a member of Greenup Christian Church, baptized on August ,7 1985. She was a dedicated volunteer and active in Church projects as wel as American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Paramount Art Center, Upward Basketball and helped organize Women on a Mission, and True Colors during the Gulf War. A lifetime member of the Electa Chapter #3 Order of Eastern Star and she received the highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, that of a Kentucky Colonel. For almost 13 years she fought a good fight battling multiple myeloma cancer and recently, injuries sustained from an automobile accident. Nina is survived by her husband of 46 years, Charles Irvin Lyon, a United States Army Veteran; her children, Rodger .L "Butch" (Cheri) Sizemore of Florence, Kentucky and, Katherine .L "Kathy" (Jeff) Porter of Hebron, Kentucky. Two grandchildren; Justin Cody Sizemore of Florence, Kentucky, and Samantha Nicole Clary (Blake) of Independence, Kentucky. Two great-grandchildren; twins Savannah &Caroline Clary. To honor our mother's wishes, there wil be no funeral service. Internment wil take place at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast. We invite you to privately celebrate Nina Lyon's memory in your own way. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky is handling the arrangements.
