Michael Gary Light

Michael Gary Light, 52, of Portsmouth, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Southern Ohio Medical Center surrounded by his family and best friend. Michael was born in Escondido, CA on April 8, 1970. He was the seventh child and fourth son of Betty (Redman) Light and the late Glenn Noah Light of Portsmouth. Michael is a proud 1988 graduate of Minford High School and took pride in being a “mighty Minford Falcon.” He loved being a part of the team and kept the stats for several different sporting events for both Minford and Eastern Local schools.

Along with his father, Glenn Light, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leslee and Nellie (Johnson) Redman, paternal grandparents, Noah and Ertie (Rutledge) Light, and two brothers; Thomas and Anthony.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret (Yates) Light whom he married on April 12, 2011, five daughters: Jessica (Tim Williams) Light of Miamisburg, OH, Courtney Light, Holly Light, Carissa Light, and Haley Light all of Portsmouth, one son: Jason (Destinie Hicks) Light of Portsmouth, one brother: David (Penny) Light, three sisters: Davena (Mike) Pennington of Piketon, OH, Tammy Coburn of New Boston, OH, and Teresa (Steve) Timberlake of Portsmouth, and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be planned by the family at a later date.
