Mark Truitt, 68, a resident of Ashland, Kentucky, formerly of Greenup, KY, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, at King’s Daughters’ Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.Â
Mark was born July 7, 1957, in Ironton, Ohio, a son of the late Marshall and Evelyn Fout Truitt.Â
Mark was a retired truck driver, a profession he always knew was his calling. His life on the open road brought him immense joy and fulfillment.Â
Mark was a self-proclaimed stubborn old goat, and in his later years, he found it a struggle to ask for help, often saying, "I can't just sit around and do nothing." Despite his tenacity, Mark was an amazing dad and papaw, whose love for his children and grandchildren knew no bounds.Â
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sarah Truitt; his parents, Marshall and Evelyn Truitt; his brother, Phillip Truitt; Pamela Blanton.Â
Mark is survived by his children, Dwayne (Melissa) Truitt of Greenup, KY, and Allison (Jordan) Ferrell of Barboursville, West Virginia. He is also survived by his brother Wilson "Ed" (Susan) Truitt of Leon, WV; a slew of nieces and nephews; a bus full of grandchildren; and his best buddy, Xander Maddox Truitt, of Barboursville, West Virginia.Â
Mark enjoyed stirring up trouble just for kicks and giggles. He loved sitting on his front porch, watching the traffic go by and all the neighborhood animals. Mark often found himself terrorized by his grandson Xander's dog, Tracker, who delighted in attacking his feet whenever he had the chance. Mark loved his family with his entire being and always wished he was physically able to visit with them more often. He had a special love for Gatlinburg, TN, where he created many cherished memories.Â
Mark will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.Â
Rest in peace, Dad. Your journey may have ended, but your legacy will forever be a guiding light for those who loved you. Per Mark’s request, there will be no services at this time. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, KY has been entrusted with his final arrangements.Â
