Marilyn Archey
Marilyn Archey, 85, of Greenup, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord, Monday, March 25, 2024, at her residence. She was born August 1, 1938, in Ashland, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Herschel and Lillian Buskirk Adams. Marilyn was a wonderful and loving mother who took great pride in defeating everyone in “Rook” and “Words with Friends” games. She was a member of Greenup First Baptist Church. Marilyn was the former pianist for Greenup First Baptist, Wurtland Missionary Baptist, and several other churches in the area for many years. She was also a former member of Highland Heights Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir. Marilyn was a 1956 graduate of Wurtland High School. She worked at the former Lawson Hardware Store in Greenup as a bookkeeper, was the secretary at Wurtland High School, and retired from Kentucky Bank and Trust. She was a former member of the Greenup Lioness Club. Marilyn and her husband Jim loved to travel, visiting several foreign countries, and enjoyed going to theater shows.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son-in-law Vernon Reacel Prince.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years James “Jim” Archey; one daughter Anita Prince of Greenup, Kentucky; one son Paul Jeffrey “P.J.” (Deena) Archey of Lexington, Kentucky; one brother James (Katie) Adams of Ponte Vedra, Florida; four grandchildren Nick Yancey of Greenup, Kentucky, Jake Archey of New York, New York, Megan (Jason) Shim of Stamford, Connecticut, and Peter Archey of Lexington, Kentucky; sister-in-law Anna “Punkin” (Lee) Miller of Canyon Lake, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Greenup First Baptist Church in Greenup, Kentucky by Dr. Tom Melvin, Rev. Rob Hale, and Bro. Jeff Ferguson. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery in Ashland, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky and one hour before the service on Friday at the church.
