Jerry Lee Abdon, 85, of Load, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at River Run Health Care in Franklin Furnace, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born November 4, 1940, in Load, Kentucky, a son of the late Freeman and Claro Archey Abdon.
Jerry was a 1958 graduate of the former Wurtland High School and was a retired inspector from AK Steel. He attended Oldsteam Baptist Church in Wurtland, Kentucky. He was known for making sorghum, apple butter, and maple syrup. He became a National Award Winning Sorghum Maker. He enjoyed farming, raising tobacco, and taking care of his apple orchard. Jerry also opened a Sporting Clay Target course in 1991 on his farm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Juanita Sizemore Abdon; a brother Danny Abdon, and a brother-in-law who was his best friend Dickie Sizemore.
He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years Connie Lynn Allen Abdon; three sons Chris (Helen) Abdon of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Greg (Winnie) Abdon of Load, Kentucky, and Todd Abdon of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters Dana McCleese of York, Kentucky and Kelly McCarty of Flagler Beach, Florida; one brother Marshall (Teresa) Abdon of Lloyd, Kentucky; one sister Connie Mabry of Columbus, Ohio; three grandchildren Caedon Snider, Dagan Abdon, and Anna (Brandon) Howard; two great-grandchildren Thomas Howard and Ella Grace Howard; a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00pm, Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Abdon Family Cemetery at Load by Pastor Rodney Vance. Reed Funeral home in Greenup, Kentucky has been entrusted with the services. Condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com.
