James David Chandler, 80, of Wurtland, Kentucky, passed away, Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, West Virginia.

James was born December 6, 1945, in Austin, Texas, and was the son of the late Johnny S. and Edna Daugherty Chandler.

James attended the Old Steam Baptist Church in Wurtland, Kentucky and was a United States Army Veteran. He was an avid hunter who enjoyed traveling in pursuit of big game, with hunting adventures taking him across many states and to destinations such as South Africa and Canada. James also enjoyed owning and driving Chevy Corvettes and Dodge Vipers.  He was a big history buff traveling throughout the states to historical landmarks. James was loved by everyone who knew him and had the kindest, biggest heart. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Shaylene Chandler and several brothers, sisters,

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years Carol Sue Dodd Chandler; four sons James (Michelle) Davenport of La Vernia, Texas, Joshua (Kristen)Chandler of Helena, Montana, Caleb (Annie) Chandler of Huffman, Texas, and Aaron Chandler of Huffman, Texas; a daughter Kelli (Michael) Miller of Hillsboro, Kentucky; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life in Stockdale, Texas in the spring of 2027.

Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky has been entrusted with the arrangements.
