James Alfred Hoff

James Alfred Hoff, 84, of Argillite, Kentucky, passed away, Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at his home. James was born May 21, 1941, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son the late Leo Jacob and Irene Hudlemyer Hoff.

James had attended Ashland Paul Blazer High School and was retired from Wal-Mart where he worked in maintenance. James was a 33^RdScottish Rites Mason.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son John Paul Hoff; a brother Leo Paul “Sonny” Hoff; three sisters Deloris Bruner, Mary Ella Floyd, and Joyce Hoff.

He is survived by two sons Jacob ( Susan ) Hoff of Auburndale, Florida and James Tony Hoff of Raceland, Kentucky; a daughter Tracy (Bubby) McCarty of Argillite, Kentucky; Caregiver and mother of his children Garnet Roark Hoff Madsen; five grandchildren Bo (Ashley) McCarty, Tara (Daniel) Rakes, Brittanay  (Chad) Riedel, Colton “C.J.” Belcher, and Alex Hoff; eight great-grandchildren Dylan, Brayden, Caleb, Peighton, Aubrey, Tommy, Jace, and Aaron; a sister-in law Garnet Frazier Hoff of Greenup, Kentucky; three nieces.

Graveside service will be conductedat 12:00pm, Friday, November 14, 2025, at Ashland Cemetery by Bro. Winston Hilton.
