Delbert Lee Burton, 68, of Grayson, Kentucky passed away Monday May 5, 2026, at his residence in Grayson. Delbert was born May 24, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, a son of Geneva (Sizemore) Burton of Pataskala, Ohio, and the late George S. Burton. He was a United States Army Veteran and a former Chaplin for Kings Daughters Medical Center. Delbert drove a bus for the county school system for many years

 

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years Penny Sue Burton. In addition to his mother, he survived by one son Micheal (Stephanie Emery) Cook of Loris, South Carolina; one brother John Burton of Loris, South Carolina; two sisters Linda (Charlie) Goddard of Groveport, Ohio and Brenda (Bill) Thompson of Pataskala, Ohio; four granddaughters Breanna Gosnell, Joanna Gosnell, Savanna Cooke, and Roseanna Cooke all of South Carolina; his late wife’s children Steve (Amanda) Schmidt of Russell, Kentucky and Carolyn (Chris) Stapleton of Pickerington, Ohio; grandchildren Alexs Nichols, Brayden and Eva Schmidt, Austin, Hailey and Brian (Danni) Stapleton, Cam Bryan, and Max Bryan; a great-grandson Silas Stapleton; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup, Kentucky. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com.
