Curtis Salley, 99, of Rush, Kentucky passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, March 25, 2026, at his home. He was born December 8, 1926, in Greenup, Kentucky, a son of Frank and

Ival Holmes Salley.

 

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Janet Deal Salley; one brother Luther Salley; and two sisters Verna Salley Johnson and Francis Salley.

 

He retired from A. C. Lawrence Company in Ashland, Kentucky and was a WWII United States Army Veteran.

 

He is survived by one son Curtis E. Salley of Rush, Kentucky; one daughter Deborah Salley Blevins of Argillite, Kentucky; five grandchildren Shannon (Cyndi) Salley, Alison Blevins-Lauhon, Brandon W. Salley, Justin W. Blevins and Shane (Whitney) Salley; six great-grandchildren, Ashlee Salley, Cheyenne Wilburn, Damien Lauhon, Carlee Cooper, Zoe Lauhon, and Hannah Salley; four great-great-grandchildren Titus, Oaklee, Westley and Walker; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Curtis was a talented wood worker who cut, crafted, and sold many different wooden items at craft shows with his wife Janet, who painted them, for many years after he retired. He loved fishing and traveling and he was an avid Kentucky Wildcats Basketball fan. He was also a tobacco farmer for many years. He was a HAM radio operator in his spare time. He used the radio to talk to people all over the world.  Curtis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and family man who always helped others when he could. His wisdom, talent and humor will be truly missed.

 

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 11:00 am at Cane Creek Cemetery by Bro. Ron Blevins. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky is in charge of arrangements.
