Colin Douglas Virgin

Colin Douglas Virgin, 84, of Greenup County, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
Doug was born April 1, 1942, in Oldtown, Kentucky, a son of the late Harry and Martha Hicks Virgin.
Doug was a 1959 graduate of the former Wurtland High School, where he played basketball and was prom king. He was a graduate of Southern Theological Seminary with a PHD in Theology. Doug pastor many churches, he began his ministry in Texas where he was pastor of First Baptist Church of East Bernard, Texas and Memorial Baptist Church in El Campo, Texas. He later came back to the area where he pastored at First Baptist of Lloyd, Kentucky and First Baptist of Burlington, Ohio. He served as the Area Missionary for the North American Mission Board and later retired as pastor of Worthington Baptist Church in Worthington, Kentucky. Doug loved the Lord and deeply missed the love of his life Judith who passed away in 2016. He loved his family, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed watching Halmark movies later in life. Doug will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Judith Ann Miller Virgin; a brother Ralph Virgin; and a sister Shirley Gifford.
He is survived by three daughters Susan (Jim) Adams of Grayson, Kentucky, Pamela Diaz of Nashville, Tennessee, and Michelle (Michael) Tackett of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; six grandchildren J.D. (Hannah) Adams, Kendra (Kai-man) Hayden, Simone Diaz, Nazareth Diaz, Jacob Tackett, and Rachel Tackett; four great-grandchildren Liam Burns, Charlotte Adams, Bowen Adams, and Alice Adams; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, October 9, 2026, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Minister Josh Schmidt. Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast, Greenup County, Kentucky. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 93, Kenova, West Virginia.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 6:00-8:00 pm and one hour before the service on Friday at the funeral home.
