Charles Junior Rice, 83, of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025, at his residence in Greenup surrounded by his family. Charles was born July 20, 1941, in Grayson, Kentucky, a son of the late Charlie and Ruby Mae Saunders Rice. He loved fishing with “Boo Boo” his dog and would go in any weather even if he had to break the ice to fish. He also loved hunting, working in his garden, and mowing grass.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister Brenda Sue Rice and two brothers Charles E. Rice and Jackie Rice.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Cathy Shepherd Rice; one son Dennis (Jamie) Rice of Lloyd, Kentucky; one daughter Charleen Carver of Sciotoville, Ohio; five brothers Glenn Rice of Ashland, Kentucky, Larry (Leona) Rice of Ironton, Ohio, Roger (Betty) Rice of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; Edgar Rice of Ironton, Ohio, and John Rice of Ashland, Kentucky; three sisters Hallie (Tom) Traylor of Argillite, Kentucky, Dorothy Rice of Grayson, Kentucky, and Carol Ann Moore of Ashland, Kentucky; five grandchildren Hannah (John) Henson, Dakota Rice, Grayson Rice, Derrek (Haleigh) Carver, and Taylor (Bricen) Frye and four great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Bro. Tony Rice. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to his wife Cathy Rice to help with funeral expenses.
