Charles E. Pope

Charles E. Pope, 79, of Garrison, Kentucky, passed away, Monday, March 4, 2024, Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. Charles was born October 2, 1944, in Leon, Kentucky a son of the late James W. and Hattie McDowell Pope. Charles was a retired crane operator from CSX Railroad and was a United States Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Robert L. Pope, Donald Pope, and James E. Pope Sr.; four sisters Gladys Mayo, Faye Harlow, Mrytle Wilburn, and Lorrine Weller.

He is survived by two daughters Shonnia Pope of Greenup, Kentucky, Lometa Smith of Kingston, Ohio; adopted daughter Rose Marie Pope of Garrison, Kentucky; one stepdaughter Mary Ison of Garrison, Kentucky; one son; one brother Gary Pope of Grayson, Kentucky; three sisters Mary Carper, Christine Boland, and Donna Utley; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky. Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East.
