Carl William Skaggs Jr.

Carl William Skaggs Jr., 78, of Raceland, Kentucky, passed peacefully, Thursday, March 12, 2026, at his home with the love his life Trudy holding his hand. Carl was born June 1, 1947, in Johnson County, Kentucky, a son of the late Carl William Sr. and Lillian Valenti Skaggs.

Carl was a 1965 graduate of Blaine High School in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and later graduated from Big Sandy Community & Technical College’s Mayo Campus in Paintsville, Kentucky, where he earned a degree in machinist technology. He was retired from Super Quik, where he served as a maintenance supervisor. During his years there, he helped build and install fuel pumps for many of the Super Quik stations throughout the area. Carl was a hardworking man who remained humble, loving, and generous throughout his life. He deeply adored his wife, Trudy, and cherished his family above all else.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Patti Bellar.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Trudy Tackett Skaggs; a daughter JoAnn Bellar of Flatwoods, Kentucky; a brother John (Shera) Skaggs of Westerville, Ohio; a sister Lois Skaggs of Ironton, Ohio; two grandchildren Jayda Bellar of Greenup, Kentucky and Jacarr Coleman of Flatwoods, Kentucky; two great grandchildren Jayleigh Wells and Juni Wells; several nieces and nephews.
