Edward McElwee Loan, 69, of Greenup, Kentucky passed away peacefully Wednesday May 2, 2018 at University of Kentucky Medical Center in Fayette, Kentucky surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Loan was born January 7, 1949 in Clifton Forge, Virginia a son of the late Edward Aaron Loan and Margaret Ann Riley Workman. He was a United States Vietnam War Navy Veteran, a member of the Masonic Zeblon Lodge 273 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky and was a former regional manager for Auto Works. He helped open many stores for Auto Works in several different states. Ed was a produce farmer and owner of Delta Greenhouse for 15 years and was also the owner of several rental properties. He coached basketball for several years at Lynn Elementary School including his own children. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one step-brother James Workman Jr.; and his step-father James Workman Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Elizabeth Jean “Liz” Howard Loan Two sons Eddie Loan Jr. of Millboro Springs, Virginia J.D. and Sadie Loan of South Shore, Kentucky
Three daughters Ashley and Ryan Brown of East Tygart, Kentucky Tabbetha Loan and Fiancé John Scott Carver of South Shore, Kentucky Kimberly and Brett Pope of Lloyd, Kentucky
Eleven grandchildren Eddie Loan III, Andrew Loan, Aaron Loan, Kaleb Loan, Madison Greene, Isaiah Greene, Laynee Loan, Kolton Gustin, Olive Loan, Brevin Pope, and Khloe Pope.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Monday May 7, 2018 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Pastor Shaun Howard. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in York, Kentucky. Military Rites will be conducted by Marine Corps League Greenbo Detachment #1345. Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 pm on Sunday and one hour before the service on Monday.
