Elizabeth Crawford Johnson


Elizabeth Crawford Johnson, 96, or Warnock went to be with the Lord, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at her home

Susan was born January 13 , 1919 in Warnock, Kentucky a daughter of the late Robert and Sadie Allen Crawford.

She held many jobs throughout her life, one being assistant Postmaster of the Warnock Post Office for over 14 years. Most of her life she was involved in farming and liked the outdoors, tending to her flowers, fruit and vegetable gardens, tobacco crops, and an array of farm animals.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, canning and prepared the most delicious meals especially known for her Sunday fried chicken.

Her Baptist faith shaped and guided her throughout life. She was a humble woman with a generous heart, sweet smile, and loved her family and friends. She lived her life with uncommon grace and dignity even during difficult times.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, all of who brought her much love and joy.

She enjoyed traveling and spending time at the Greenup County Senior Citizens Center.

One of her favorite scriptures was Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.”

Susan married the late Andrew Johnson, Jr. on August 2, 1935.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by:

2 sons, Noah Johnson and Robert Johnson

2 daughters, Magdalene Worthington and Bird Dean Johnson

4 sisters, Anna Sarah Flannery, Mary Campbell, Esther Crawford, and Polina Eggers

3 brothers, Newton Crawford, Clyde Crawford, and Charles Crawford

1 grandson Eric Johnson

2 sons-in-law Everett Worthington and Aden Messer

Several nieces and nephews

She is survived by:

1 son, James (Helen) Johnson of Warnock

5 daughters, Evelyn Messer and Linda Qualls both of Warnock, Elizabeth (Gaicomo) Scalice, Sadie +(Ed) Boyce, and Tiresa (Martin) Hobart all of Troy, OH

1 sister, Lucy Mills of Cleveland, OH

2 daughters-in-law, Sue Johnson of Georgetown, KY and Angela Johnson of Louisville, KY

24 grandchildren

30 great-grandchildren

12 great-great grandchildren

Many nieces and nephews

Pallbearers are Jennifer Qualls, Jon Boyce, Patrick Skees, Aden Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Jose Cruz and honorary pallbearer Andy Johnson

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday November 15, 2015 at Reed Funeral Home in -Greenup by minister Scott Riggs. Burial was in Warnock Cemetery
