Payton "Gene" May

Payton Eugene “Gene” May, 80, of Argillite, Kentucky went to be with the Lord, Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Baptist Health Center in Lexington surrounded by his loving family.

Gene was born September 7, 1939 in Greenup County, Kentucky a son of the late Howard and Katie Carr May.

He was a member of the Raccoon Freewill Baptist Church in Greenup and was a retired carmen with CSX Railroad. Gene loved to hunt and go fishing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers Lewis “Bud” May and Billy Joe May; four sisters Garnett Adkins, Gladys Sparks, Hilda Arnett and Betty May.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Bertha M. Boggs May; two sons Mike (Donna) May and Dwayne (Reta) May of Argillite; one daughter Lorie (Daniel) Potter of Argillite; five grandchildren Shane May, Vanessa Mackey, Heather May, Bailey Potter and Easton Potter; several nieces and nephews and friends who loved him dearly.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Bro. Danny Brown and Pastor Steve Stapleton. Burial will be in the McGuire Cemetery in Greenup.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday and one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
