Bette Cartee Keen


Bette Cartee Keen, 90, of Maloneton, Kentucky went to be with the Lord Monday, April 17, 2017 surrounded by her family who loved her dearly in Woodland Oaks Nursing Home in Ashland, Kentucky.

Bette was born May 10, 1926 in Carter City, Kentucky a daughter of the late Russell E. and Grace Field Cartee.

She was a 1943 graduate of the former McKell High School in South Shore, Kentucky and a graduate of Morehead State University with a bachelors in education

She taught elementary school for 27 years in the Greenup County School system.

She was a dedicated member of the Liberty United Methodist Church in Lynn, Kentucky

She loved to make quilts, crochet, was very involved in the Lynn Homemakers, benefits for Maloneton Volunteer Fire Dept. and the community.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Elby E. Keen

A host of nieces and nephews and her family at Woodland Oaks that will miss her greatly

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday April 20, 2017 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Bro. Jim Montgomery. Burial will be in Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Wednesday April 19, 2017 and one hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flower donations may be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, 7094 State Route 7, South Shore, Kentucky 41175.
