Douglas Stapf Mitchell, 82, of Greenup, Kentucky passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at his residence in Greenup.
Douglas was born September 11, 1937 in the former Stapf – Mitchell Funeral Home in Greenup the son of the late Darwinia Stapf Mitchell Belcher and Arthur Richard Mitchell.
He was a 1955 graduate of Sycamore High School in Sycamore, Illinois
He was a United States Army Veteran.
Douglas lived in Chicago Illinois for many year and later moved back to Greenup to take care of his mother. A graduate of Northern Illinois University in Deklb, Illinois with a Bachelor in French and Political Science and a Master degree in Education Administration. He was a teacher at Prospect High School in Mount Prospect, Illinois for 25 years and was Principle at Raceland – Worthington Elementary and Raceland High school for a short period.
Douglas loved to travel, especially to Paris, France. He loved being a teacher and truly enjoyed his students.
There will be no services at this time. Douglas’s ashes will be placed in the Hillside Chapel in Cincinnati, Ohio.
